AET Week 4 Jump Start

The television show that I will be focusing on will be The Cosby Show. The name of the specific character that demonstrates leadership qualities will be Cliff Huxtable. Mr. Huxtable can be described as a charismatic, honest, fair, and diplomatic husband and father of five children.

Cliff understands the needs of his family and works to help them achieve greatness in the personal, professional, and educational endeavors. Often times, Cliff has to make tough decisions when dealing with five children. He finds a comedic but diplomatic way to gain the respect and reverence from his wife and children. He does not belittle his children when things go wrong, but holds them accountable to their actions and makes sure they understand what went wrong and how to fix the situation.
Mr. Cliff Huxtable uses all three of the leadership styles while being the man of the household. He demonstrates autocratic leadership styles when mainly dealing with his youngest children. At their age, it is best for them to be directed by a strong male figure. He also uses the democratic method when engaging with his older children and his wife. At their age, they have valuable input that can be constructive and helpful when working through problems. Lastly, Cliff uses the delegative technique when he cannot handle certain things on his own. He typically turns to his wife when delegating tasks because she is an expert as well.

Goal Setting

I aspire to gain an entry-level internship with a local radio or news station. This will be a pivotal moment in my career as it will be the first job that is directly related to my major, Media Communications.  Additionally, I hope to become proficient in Photoshop and in web publishing. I am currently familiar with the two software skills but I am seeking more hands-on experience.
To achieve these goals, I must research and apply with local companies in my area to gain an entry-level internship. I have to keep in mind that some of these opportunities may not be paid internships. I must not only look at the monetary gain but also the amount of experience that can be drawn from working in a lucrative and upcoming organization. In relation to gaining new software skills, this mainly will be addressed in the Media Communications Bachelors of Science coursework. However, I must find other avenues to acquire more hands-on instructional activities. This will require self-studying/self training. The training resources I will use include Lynda.com and Youtube.com. Full Sail University does offer additional resources that will be beneficial in my professional and educational pursuits. This includes the writing center, the career services office, and the online Library database.
My time frame to achieve this goal is within the next two years. The goal is not tied to a specific course. I will use my iCalendar to set due dates for myself. This will include periodic reminders to remind myself of my short-term goals on a weekly basis.

WK4 RISE Self Evaluation

AET Week 4 Peer Review

I reviewed William’s advertisement entitled Stuff Vodka, Everyone’s Favorite Fuzzy Memory. Your ad design is very effective by it understanding the needs of the current alcohol industry. It is understood that drinking alcohol can lead to feelings of enjoyment and satisfaction. It made me want to revisit my own design to determine the needs of the target market base to effectively convey an undeniable message to the audience. It was interesting how you choose to incorporate movement, balance, and proportion to your advertisement.  I think that the supporting text helped to advertisement to tell a story to the viewer.
What were you trying to communicate by displaying a woman hoola-hooping in a bar scene?  Did you mean to convey the message the anything can happen when you being to consume Stuff Vodka? The colors palette presented in the advertisement provides a more solemn tone, where as adding additional hues complimentary to the color wheel will offer more dynamic to the advertisement.
Have you considered changing the setting of your advertisement? The bar scene is not the only social place to drink alcohol especially vodka.  You might want to explore different settings to convey a more creative message to the audience.
Perhaps you can refine your design by having a group of people having the time of their lives holding the signature bottle or a replica. This can consist of more than two people but less than five people. You do not want to overcrowd your essential message. You could repurpose this by channeling the emotion to a wider crowd. Consider bolding the text and using more elaborate font types and colors to bring the ad to life.

AET Week 3 Exploration

The main color schemes are brown, blue, and red. The movie poster produces tones of these colors. Cool colors are present giving the impression of distance. The bottom portion of the movie appears detailed but distant. Additionally, the cooling colors give a calming affect to the poster.  The monochromatic color schemes found are different tones of brown. They assist in producing crisp impressions. The men appear dominant and powerful in character.  Complementary colors are present in the tones of blue and red.  These colors are opposite of the color wheel. In a unique way, they the mood of the poster is amplified producing a very blatant contrast. The achromatic colors are very apparent in the tones of brown. This produces a depressing mood.

The color scheme helps to create the intended mood featured in the poster by offering a sense of power and fear. This is one of the main themes in the movie. The intended mood of the movie is solemn but dominant. This theme is achieved by utilizing cooling colors, complimentary colors, and monochromatic colors.
